A LETTER TO  RABBIE.

Could I but write whilst shedding nae tears

A glowing letter to you frae a’ your fieres

In this, Rabbie,  your special year o’ years

Wi a’ respect

Just to sit an scribe as a’ body spiers

An’  truly reflect

On priceless poetry makin the inner heart sing

Epistles an’ poems whit joy they a’ bring

An’ your enlightenment gifts that widna ding

So much admired

Auld Scot’s songs saved for us to sing

We are inspired.

When we share the cheerfu  festive night

Wi’ Burnsians keeping your star shining bright

Here are nae  strangers, only friens in sight

In your name

To read your poems puts woes to flight

With quiet acclaim.

Weel are you worthy o’ sic a glorious theme

Because you are held sae high in oor esteem

An epistle to you wad be a wondrous dream

Oor thanks abound

Cupar’s  greetings  gae oot wi’ brightening beam

To kindred clubs around.
